Easter Gifts

Easter is upon us and the tradition of giving an Easter Egg during this festive period is as popular as ever. The custom of giving eggs at Easter celebrates new life hence its association with this major Christian festival. However no-one actually knows when eggs were first used as symbols in this way and in fact it seems likely to have pre-dated Christianity. Long ago people gave easter gifts of eggs carved from wood or precious stones, and it is only in the last 100 years or so that the first sweet eggs were eaten, with early examples being made from sugar or marzipan.
With egg giving now firmly established other traditions have evolved such as chocolate Easter Egg Hunts for the children or elaborate and competitive decoration of hard-boiled eggs.
Easter Gifts with a difference
However as a change from chocolate this Easter, why not buy a more durable egg themed gift instead – perhaps something to be appreciated and used long after the weekend has passed and certainly something to last a little longer than your average foil wrapped confection! We have some great ideas that may just fit the bill and recommend a look at some of the following designs:

From Fairmont & Main this china egg rack is ideal for safely storing a full dozen eggs. The 12 hole ceramic rack is priced at £6.95.
Nigella Lawson Salt & Pepper Piglets
