Seasonal food - Tomatoes

There is nothing quite like eating food that’s in season. The difference in taste is amazing
This September it’s mainly fruit that is ready to eat. Apricots; Blackberrys; Damson; Figs; Gooseberrys, Peach, Pears and my favourite Tomotoes.
I love tomatoes, they are an incredibly versatile fruit (Yes I said fruit – they have seeds) and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Cherry, Beef, Plum, Pomodoro tomatoes. They research also suggests that the Lycopene within the tomato helps to slow the rate of prostate cancer.
Here are some of my favourite Tomato based dishes and some tableware to help
Pizza on the table
Once considered a dish for poor people, Pizza will grace most family’s tables at some point. Flexible enough to cover most peoples tastes the main ingredient (apart from the dough) is the tomato base. It’s a good and easy way to introduce tomatoes into your children’s diet.
Jersey Pottery Mediterranean Pizza Plate Olive - £34.95
Pasta on the table
If you are looking for a much more filling dish then a bowl of pasta with tomato sauce will fill you up. Full of slow release carbohydrates the pasta will keep you going.
Soup on the table
With autumn on it’s way. Good hearty fair is the order of the day and I love soup. So if you love cold morning walks and a light snack before lunch then a warm bowl of tomato soup is just the thing.
We have a wide variety of soups and pasta Bowls from LSA, the Hairy Bikers, Fairmont & Main or Maxwell & Williams.
Maxwell & Williams Cashmere Coupe Bowls - £5.50
LSA Luna Pasta/Soup Bowl - £9.50
Fairmont & Main White Linen Pasta/Soup Bowls - £6.75

Bloody Mary
I have had two Bloody Mary’s in my life and I’m pretty sure that I didn’t like them. But if it’s the sort of thing that floats your boat then you want a good glass. Try the LSA Aurelia tumbler.
LSA Aurelia Tumblers - £33.75 (for two)
